Helicopters for Sale New & Used
HQ Aviation is a Robinson authorised dealer at Denham Aerodrome, 30 minutes from central London, selling factory-new R22, R44 and R66 helicopters and pre-owned aircraft inspected and certified by our own CAA Part-145 service centre. We buy, rebuild, maintain and fly Robinsons every day, so you are dealing with an operator, not a broker.
The new Robinson range
Every new Robinson we sell is a factory order built to your specification: paint, avionics and interior. It is handed over at Denham with your training and aftercare arranged before you collect it. Compare models on the new aircraft page or dive into each type:

Robinson R22
The two-seat piston classic: the aircraft most of the world learns on, and the lowest-cost route into helicopter ownership.
Explore the R22 →Robinson R44
The best-selling civil helicopter in the world: four seats, honest handling and strong resale. The default choice for private owners.
Explore the R44 →Robinson R66
The five-seat turbine, with Rolls-Royce RR300 power, more payload and the smoothness serious cross-country flying deserves.
Explore the R66 →Robinson R88
Robinson’s new 10-seat single turbine, available to pre-order ahead of production, with ground runs expected late 2026. Talk to us about deposits and delivery positions.
Explore the R88 →Used & second-hand helicopters
Every pre-owned helicopter we sell goes through our own workshop first: overhaul clocks verified, component times checked, logbooks reconciled, and the aircraft certified by the CAA Part-145 engineers who work on the type every day. That is the difference between a second-hand helicopter and a second-hand risk.

How to buy a helicopter
Buying a helicopter is simpler than most people expect, if you do it in the right order. Four steps stand between you and your own aircraft:
Choose the right model
Two seats or four, piston or turbine, training or touring: the right helicopter is about how you’ll actually fly. We operate the whole Robinson range daily, so you can compare them side by side at Denham.
New or pre-owned
A factory-new machine is built to your spec with full warranty; a good pre-owned one flies the same missions for less capital. The used market is all about the overhaul clocks, and that’s where we earn our keep.
Inspect before you buy
Never buy on photos and a logbook summary. Our CAA Part-145 engineers carry out independent pre-purchase inspections, even on aircraft we’re not selling.
Own it without the headaches
Hangarage at Denham, maintenance in our own workshop, and training for you or your pilot. One hangar covers the whole of ownership, 30 minutes from central London.
Want a professional in your corner for the whole process? Our aircraft consulting service handles sourcing, inspection and negotiation, and our Part-145 workshop and flight school take care of everything after the handshake.
Helicopter buying FAQs
How much does it cost to buy a helicopter in the UK?
It depends on the model, and for used aircraft on the hours and calendar time remaining to overhaul. The same type can vary by six figures. A two-seat R22 is the most affordable entry point, the R44 is the four-seat standard, and the turbine R66 sits above it. Call us for real, current prices on new factory orders and our used stock. We quote actual aircraft, not averages.
Should I buy a new or a second-hand helicopter?
New gives you factory warranty, your exact spec and the full overhaul life ahead of you. A well-bought second-hand Robinson delivers the same flying for less capital. The key is component times and history, which is exactly what our Part-145 engineers check before we sell (or help you buy) one.
What is the best helicopter for a private owner?
For most UK private owners the Robinson R44 is the answer: four seats, sensible running costs for its class, a huge support network and strong resale. Owners who want turbine smoothness and more payload step up to the R66. If you’ll mostly fly solo or want the lowest costs, the two-seat R22 is hard to beat.
Do you sell used helicopters other than Robinson?
Our specialism (sales, maintenance and rebuilds) is the Robinson range, and occasionally other types we know well pass through our hands. The live for-sale list shows everything currently in stock at Denham.
Will you buy my helicopter or take it in part-exchange?
Yes. We buy any Robinson: R22, R44 or R66, any year, any hours. We also take trade-ins against your next aircraft, with a fair-market valuation, usually within a working day.
Can I learn to fly the helicopter I buy?
That’s the point of buying from an operating flight school: we train you in your own aircraft type (PPL(H), type ratings and ongoing safety training) from the same hangar your helicopter is maintained in.
